Why this is Bad for Anderson and Madison County

Malarkey Roofing Products plans to build a rubberized asphalt shingle plant on 157 rural acres just south of Menards and east of Sugar Fork Crossing assisted living facility. This company will:

•Be permitted to release many tons of harmful emissions per year that negatively impact the environment and health.

• Risk water pollution: Sugar Fork Creek, Fall Creek, and neighboring wells

Bring 100 semis per day and increased rail traffic to the already busy I69 Exit 226, 109 Bypass, 67th Street, and Columbus Avenue

Close 100 East from Menards to just beyond the railroad tracks

• Destroy Anderson’s vision of Exit 226 as a welcoming Gateway focused on hotels, restaurants, retail, and entertainment options.

Concerns About Malarkey
• Received a record-breaking penalty in Oregon for air quality violations over a decade

Its Swiss parent company, Holcim, has 887 records of regulatory violations totaling $1,094,502,721 since 2000.

• Malarkey California employees filed a class action suit against the company

• TOXIC EMISSIONS. POTENTIAL WATER POLLUTION. TRAFFIC HEADACHES. LOST OPPORTUNITY.

Why would we want this Malarkey for only “UP TO” 200 jobs, most of which
have below-average wages.

#NoMalarky. Anderson Can Do Better.
